Author Topic: Bones is practicing photography. Opinions? (new camera)  (Read 4408 times)

I recently bought a Nikon D7000 with a Nikkor 18-70mm  f/3.5-4.5 (G, ED, IF) AF and then added a Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 (G, ED, IF, AF-S, VR)

Here are some pics I've taken: (All shot in manual with manual focus. I'm still learning)

Lens flare :(

Boring

High ISO and some noise, but it was low light with a tele. This was in the airport gate. No idea why he was there.

My sister's cookies for Santa

Also, my dad and his friend game me two old 35mm film cameras. These should be fun.

~*warning personal opinions and criticism ahead woop woop*~

I can't tell where the focal point is supposed to be in most of those, plus it feels like in some (fireplace, leaves, last waterfall pic) there's either too many unneeded/distracting objects (branches) or not enough in the frame (cut off tips of the leaves). The quality of the lens and sensor and everything looks great, it's just the subject material doesn't stand out to me. I like the picture of the bird and the cat the most.

also, I'm no pro, so I guess take my criticism with a grain of salt as always lol

Watch as Bones4 becomes a very famous photographer. Just you guys watch. Other than that nice pictures man! Keep it up!

What can't Bones4 do?
I don't think he understands why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Seriously tho these look pretty great

Jesus that camera must cost more than everything in my house put together.

in this one and the one below it i have no idea where the focal point is, the contrast looks to harsh and kind of awkward as well.

the cat picture is amazing though.

Great start, but as Brickman said, the only real photos with a subject are the cat, bird, and leaf ones (maybe the second waterfall as well). The leaf has the end of it chopped off. It looks like you already understand how the Rule of Thirds works; but when you're about to press the shutter button, ask yourself, "is what is in focus well defined or outstanding enough from its surroundings in order for just anyone to easily pick out the subject?" If not, choose a subject - it changes the whole game (note that you don't really have a subject in landscape photography, and, while it may seem like it, none of those photos can actually be considered landscape photos).

Anyway, keep up the good work, you have awesome potential! :)

I think you did great for a start! I may want to get into photography soon, too.
