Fraps is the way to go.

ShadowPlay is super good without the weirdness (and cost) of FRAPS.

Fraps is the way to go.
you have to pay for fraps i think. the free version only lets you record 30 seconds and then it stops

If you want something free you can try this way of recording. If you are wanting to record games and such then get something like fraps or Action!

I am currently using Open Broadcaster Software for my video streaming. It can also record to files without streaming. It's free, easy to use, and can capture games directly. Try it out: http://obsproject.com/

I need one too, free or not

Fraps and Bandicam are two applications which are worth trying out.

fraps is probably the best game recorder. although, it basically cuts your fps in half when you start recording

ShadowPlay is super good without the weirdness (and cost) of FRAPS.

ShadowPlay is forgetin' boss but the indicator likes to turn itself on and you need a 650 or better.

it's also missing a push-to-record-microphone button, which is ruining its perfection.

If you have Windows 8 don't bother with Fraps. It can't record your desktop because for some stupid reason it requires Aero to do so and Windows 8 doesn't have that.
