If a bunch of fans can make something as amazing as the First Strike mod for Battlefield 2142 then DICE's upcoming game had better be loving stellar.
Dice is going to make it Battlefield: Star Wars mod.

There were dogfight map mods in the first game, and even still the space maps felt boring because they were all incredibly samey and had dumb ship choices with even dumber loadouts (when the hell was the V-wing ever a bomber with space shotguns?). Boarding enemy ships wasn't interesting because the AI was stuff and would run straight to the fighters instead of defending anything, and every factions ship was the same four rooms. Also, thanks to the dedicated space maps, there were no fighters on land maps with the exception of Hoth.

I know that there is a mod that adds the original battlefront maps to battlefront 2. Do they add the fighters to the maps as well or no?

Battlefield is just another generic console shooter without mods to set it apart from other games. To me, the un-moddable frostbite engine is just another excuse to reduce shelf life of games so that they can pump out more titles and sell more dlcs.

That doesn't matter because your argument is that adding stuff from the previous game to the new game makes it better. Why bother playing the new one at all if you can just play the old one with all the good stuff in it? Literally the only thing I'd miss is the ability to sprint, that's it.

What's the point of buying the old one if you can get everything and more in the new one?

Because the "and more" is trash that isn't worth it?
Space battles got boring incredibly fast.
The new clone voices were terrible (which is completely inexcusable because they had temura morrison voice act the campaign voiceover).
Heroes were poorly executed.
Hero assault was loving stuff.
Almost none of the new gamemodes were any good (hunt was ALWAYS one-sided)
The good maps from the first game were removed (rhen var harbor and citadel, tatooine dune sea, bespin platforms).
The AI was not improved at all.
The new unique units were rubbish.
Faction variety (like pilot units having different weapons on each faction, droid and rebel snipers having two zoom levels) was canned.

I swear if the new game has a campaign and its your typical rebel-sided snorefest I'm going to flip a table. The only point I'll give Battlefront 2 was the fact that it had a campaign that was pretty damn decent and not just "play all these instant action levels". AI still sucked dong though.

Star wars battlefront conversion pack, problem solved.

Oh yes I love that mod and its stuffty intrusive hud that it forces on you.
A better solution would be to not even play the steamer.

TELL ME ABOUT IT! I HATE THAT HUD

It obstructs your view. I wish it was optional.
I wish the Battlefront 2 modding tools would work on Windows 7 too. :c

The only things I do on battlefront is create mods. I've done some campaign mods, made a few reskins and ported vehicles from bf1

How did you get the mod tools to work

I agree, I really hope this game doesn't get raped by adding in Battlefield or Call of duty stuff, such as regenerating health, overpowered weapons, and horrible lag.

I hate how people hate certain gameplay mechanics because they were used in a franchise they dislike.

I don't hate either franchise, I just don't want EA to mix their game mechanics with Battlefront.
