Author Topic: Stonehearth - Alpha 1 Released  (Read 2826 times)

Stonehearth is a game about exploration and survival in an epic fantasy setting. Your job is to help a small group of settlers survive and carve out a place for themselves in a hostile land. You’ll need to establish a food supply, build shelter, defend your people, and find a way to grow and expand, facing challenges at every step.
Starting from procedurally generated terrain with dynamic AI encounters, Stonehearth combines city simulation and good old combat with infinite building possibilities. It’s built to be moddable at every level, from your city, to the people and creatures inhabiting the world, and will ship with the tools and documentation for you to add your own customizations to the game, and share them with friends.

The game is equal parts Sandbox, Real Time Strategy, and RPG.
It will initially ship on PC, with Mac and Linux releases coming later.
The kickstarter was successful in reaching stretch goals that add cooperative multiplayer and PvP modes as well.

All the settlers in your towns have jobs. A job is like a class in a role playing game. Each job has a specific role like hauling materials, building, crafting, and fighting. As your little guys work at a job they will gain experience and levels. Some jobs, when they meet certain pre-requisites, can upgrade into entirely new jobs with new capabilities
This tech tree shows just a portion of the jobs related to basic crafting and food production. They will have all kinds of jobs related to combat, trading, exotic crafting, and more!

Bump, they're working really hard, can't wait for the updates!

blegh. alpha is nearly unplayable for me.
I'll be collecting wood/building a house then out of nowhere everyone stops moving and I can't do stuff. o well.

They're doing frequent updates, quite good of them, I heard those bugs will be fixed in a few weeks and a saving feature with it too.

Probably gonna buy this tomorrow, looks really interesting.

    it looks so cool.

but there are so so so so so so so....
....many of these voxel+tower defence/survival+dwarf fortress type games in alpha and beta right now. its getting a little sickening.
wont one of em finish and be mainstream for once. they all go months without any updates and no completion in sight.

Alpha right now for this game, I can tell you it's better than anything else, right now I have put hours into this. They got 750k from kickstarter only, not to mention paypal donations havn't been counted. They quit there jobs so obviously it's going to have regular updates. It's awesome right now and worth it.

alchemist AND brewmaster both = physician??
i would totally be a brewmaster but not some physician pfff

Yeah I was thinking that too, maybe those upgraded classes can do what the people below them can
Oh and by the way you get a ton of characters, so there can be like 1 for each job. Or more!!
