Author Topic: Possible implementation of ABC files.  (Read 888 times)

Not sure if it's possible with Torque, but I'm wondering if ABC files are compatible with Blockland, and if it is reasonable to allow support for them if they work.

...and what is a abc file

Would require a hell of a lot of sound files for each individual pitch change an different instruments, boosting your datablocks to 200+.

Sure there isn't a way to dynamically modify pitch?  It seems that way to me from the effects of /timescale.

If someone were to do it as an add-on.
However, you shouldn't forget that changes can be made to the engine.

Didn't someone make an event converting notes to synth sounds?

yeah it'd be possible if you made the sound datablocks for it

This is a bad method.

Yes, it was the Piano Composition mod.

My idea is basically that you carry an instrument item, use it, and it brings up a menu or song tracks to play and it plays.  If you could get multiple ABC files for each song, you could get a whole band performing, possibly a whole orchestra, if you can get a bunch of parts and players working with it.  Inspired by Starbound, and this topic.

Yes I want my ocarina /support
