Author Topic: Rising 9th Graders Orientation: THE AFTERMATH  (Read 1048 times)

JOLLY GOOD TEA TIME

So we had that silly orientation that talks about credits, graduation, college, school, clubs, and all of that jazz.

I was sleeping because lol and I need people to explain credits.

I did open my eyes for the electives and 2 caught my eye:
PC Repair
Programming and Robotics

Since I am in band, that means one of my electives get taken up. I would be loving jolly if I could get both, but no. Sillyness. I could always take each a different year, but unfortunately, my mom wants me to get the required finance class done when I am a freshman :/ (which is an elective).

Oh god my brain hurts and this is due the 27th.

your mom is smart! first of all finances are a good thing to understand, not to mention, this way you won't have to worry about it later, and the relief of being done with something is better than the feeling of putting it off

and credits are just what you get for each class you take. generally it's one credit per class, but sometimes half a credit. you have to have a certain number of credits each year to pass, and a certain number at the end in order to graduate

i take required classes as soon as i can
next year i have 5 free elective spots out of the 7 total periods

If you're seriously hunting for potential career choices, I would not recommend taking Band unless you want to become a musician (which I don't recommend either, as the music industry is dying). Drop it if you can and take your pick of PC Repair or Programming. I would especially recommend Programming.

is the programming course actual programming or some stupid stuff though

Is mayonnaise an instrument?

Band is cool.  You get great memories from it.  Never stop.

I know, I do like band. Unfortunately, it does take up 1 of 2 electives. If I take finances, I won't have anything I like.

:c

Don't give up.  Everyone at my high school who was a dedicated band member and quit for even one year regretted it.  You have tons of time to sort out your classes.  If you go to  public school, then you don't have to take any religion credits.  Try to get done with all your academics early, so that you can take whatever extra classes you want in senior year, possibly junior year.

Yes, I am in a public school. Apparently they offer more AP classes, and they also have more electives and clubs.

I guess I will take the "boring stuff" first. Of course I will take 4 years of math, 4 years of English, and the rest of the "needed" things for college.

ANOTHER THING IS LANGUAGE, YAYYY
italian looks smexy

Do you know, is robotics actually something called FRC, or First Robotics Competition?

Take Mandarin if you can.

:c
I'm in the 8th grade band program down here at my middle school and I'm pretty sure this is what is going to be in place of one of my electives in 9th.

At my school credits are like this

Academic classes are worth 5 credits
Electives are worth 2.5 credits

Need 140 to graduate

my school

they update every semester
