Author Topic: Good Gaming Headphones?  (Read 1636 times)

OK, so I need a new pair of headphones since my current ones draw too much USB power from my computer. They've been doing this only recently, and they haven't done it before in the 6-8 months I've owned them.
Here are some things I'd need for them:
1. They MUST be Mac compatible, which means they must use USB for the microphone to work.
2. Wireless ones are preferred, or at least ones that connect via usb/mini/micro and work while charging.
3. $100 or less. The budget should be enough for good stereo ones, possibly surround.
4. Like said above, stereo ones are fine, but I would prefer surround sound.
I don't care if they go on-ear or over-ear. As long as it works with my Macintosh and has a microphone, I'd look into it.

TurtleBeach X12's

I have the X11's and they are everything i need

My cousin has had them for a shorter time than I had mine, and he says his microphone has problems. I'm a bit skeptical on ordering those.
skull candy
Which, specifically?

he says his microphone has problems.

he probably throws them across the room and spills drinks all over them

i've actually taken good care of mine for like 2 years and it works amazing

X12s need an audio jack, mic jack and a usb port to work. If you can manage that, the mic is really solid and the base is great

He's older and more mature than me, but okay.

If that's the case, I don't think I could use it. My mac mini 2011 model just has a headphone jack and line-in, no mic port.

I had two pairs of the X11's and they both broke in about a year (most likely because of overly-heavy use). I ended up getting an X12 anyway because I liked the sound quality of the X11's, and I found them to be very comfortable.

So far I've no major problems with the X12's, and they sound amazing.

uh like 99% of headphones need the mic port for their mics to work

What's the difference between good headphones and good gaming headphones?

I recently got these

They were surprisingly amazing. Turned out to be better than my last pair of beaches.
Surround sound and only $60. Plus Rosewill so yeah.
Also, entirely a usb mic.

Also Turtle beaches are made cheap and break hella easy. The last pair I had snapped when I was putting them on and my brothers fell about 3 feet and broke. They are not resilient. They sound decently good but they break very easy for how much they cost.

(Of course this depends on the model you buy.)

There isn't.

Those look nice, and only require usb. Even though it doesn't say it, would it work with a Mac?

I bought turtle beaches x12's before and they didn't even work. I don't recommend them.
I do recommend some razer headsets. You could also get normal headset that require Mic plug in and headset plug in then buy a usb converter for it to work. However I don't know if this would work with x12's.

I'm almost certain it would. I have no way of testing but I really can't see why they wouldn't. If not they have return policies but I seriously doubt they wouldn't work since it's just a gaming headset it should work no matter what OS you use.

One very interesting thing about this headset is it actually has a vibration switch. Very interesting in a game when you get shot at or when you listen to some loud music.

I don't think that's the case. After looking up some more info, apparently there's a driver required to use some of its features.
