I was constantly laughing, even though it was hard as stuff at the "Recommended" level

I'm trying to decide if I should buy Fallout: 3 or Fallout: New Vegas. I just can't decide! NV has that desert feel, and 3 has that ruined apocalypse feel - I love both!  So I have these questions to ask:

Which wasteland is more interesting to explore? Fallout 1/2
Which one has more interesting encounters? Fallout 1/2
Which has better writing? Fallout 1/2
Which has more memorable characters? Fallout 1/2
Which has better gunplay and combat? Fallout NV
Which one is more immersive? Fallout 3/NV
Which one has more enemies? Fallout 1/2
and which one has more companions? loving fallout 1/2

If you plan on getting both Fallout 3 and NV at some point then it makes a lot more sense to buy Fallout 3 first.
