Author Topic: The Real Time Strategy Megathread  (Read 7296 times)

I'm going to a computer game store soon, what RTS games should I get? They have quite a bit. I was thinking of getting APOX.
jesus christ why the hell would you go to a real store to buy video games anymore wtf

Do you consider the Total War series RTS? The battles are but the strategic map is turn-based, so it's more like a mixture.

why not just make this the strategy megathread

turnbased are good too

Just bought Europa Universalis 4 and now downloading. I played the demo and it seemed pretty fun.

I may look into getting Hearts of Iron 3 too in the future too. (Plus, Hearts of Iron 3 is made by the same people who made Europa Universalis IV)

Oh, and also;

My god this game is amazing and i've had it for years now.

(actual gameplay)

plus you can launch atomic bombs into the battlefield

if i had a better computer that could run it better i would play a whole campaign

I see that the 'history' section mentions Ground Control, but I don't see it on the list.

yeah uh one question about EU4, does it go any higher than just the early eras? Like, i'm wondering if it'll go as high as to WWII or the Present-day era. All i've seen lately was things like in the 1400s-1700s. Or does it just end on a specific date?

ends at 1821, although there are other games made by the same company, like victoria 2 (1836-1936), hearts of iron III (1936-1948(a fourth one is planned)), and if you want to go back in time, crusader kings II (1056-1453)
although there are plenty of modern day mods (only seen the ones for eu4 and v2)

if you want ww2 to the present day, then play hearts of iron 3

it's by the same people

War zone 2100 is a pretty good free RTS. It gets hard though later on.

if by hard you mean the research takes like 30 minutes eventually then yes

One thread to rule them all!

One thread to rule them all!
Well, you see, the thing about most strategy genres is that they lack as much feature as RTS. And I'm not willing to do another shameless copy-paste.
