Author Topic: Should I get STALKER?`  (Read 674 times)

So Ive been looking at some reviews, images, and videos of the STALKER Series and so far theyve managed to captivate me. Thing is though, Im a pusillanimous individual about these kind of games due to some horror elements, but Should I get this game?
And If I should, Should I start with Shadow of Chernobyl or another STALKER game?

Stalker is hardly scary, besides you have your trust AK-74M. What could go wrong in the game?

If you can deal with everyone in the game yelling "GET OUT OF HERE, STALKER" at you then yea sure.

The game is crazily brutal. Im considering picking it up myself

Stalker is hardly scary

I went SoC -> CS -> CoP

its mainly the feeling of being chased in dark sewers with a dying flashlight and a pistol with only 8 rounds by a bloodsucker

stalker is my favorite open-world game
I felt like call of pripyat was a bit too easy since artifacts cost like a lot, you could easily get the exoskeleton in just 1 hour of artifact hunting
shadow of pripyat had no anomaly detector so big letdown, I personally found clear sky the most enjoyable for some reason
but all of them were great

Yeah i played CS first and i found it fun but i think pripyat has a lot of features the others should of had.

Same. I think that's a pretty good order to play them in, too.

I've heard stories Stalker: Clear Sky is so broken that your computer will literally rip itself in half if you so much as look at the icon funny, but I had no problems with it whatsoever, but I'm probably just lucky. Concerning the series as a whole, they're pretty good open world survival games. They actually do feel like a survival game as opposed to "game where you try to not die" that you'll commonly see tacked on to any zombie game. No regenerating health, just the limited supplies you can fit into your bag alongside your guns and ammo which you need to survive a hostile world full of monsters, bandits, and the occasional doomsday explosion that'll kill you if you don't get to shelter. It is not, however, survival horror. Some of the enemies in some areas could startle you with an ambush if you aren't alert, but no scripted scenes where a monster jumps out of a closet and yells "boo." The games definitely don't hold your hand as most people find the first time they walk into an invisible magic explosion landmine, but if horror is your only concern, go ahead and buy them.

Yeah somebody told me CS was the worst and it was broken but the only problem i found was 2 friends sat down in front of a doorway during an emission and i couldn't escape and get to cover so i used my sleeping bag (Complete mod) to sleep through the emission and it worked! but everything after that point was broken and i had to reload my save to trigger events and enemys and stuff.

Call of pripyat is the best! But then again it's the only one i have...

Alright, Im sold on stalker and Ill get it when I have the funding. The first game ill try is SoC. Thanks guys
