and so was killing people for not believing in a religion
and so was slavery
and so was pink being a boy's color
and so was not cooking meat
and so was bloodletting
and so was being a white protestant
and so was serfdom
etc.
All those still exist today. People eat uncooked meat such as sushi, some native tribes will eat small pieces of uncooked meat.
Serfdom kind of exists, look at the class system we have. The rich elite go to school and become lawyers, politicians, and business men. Middle Class men are Managers, merchants, and just little people in charge. Lower class men don't have much spending power, work low paying jobs. In places like china and india workers are pretty much viewed as easy replaceable drones who get stuff pay. In those countries the attitude is the same as the ones found in the us during our industrial period which was "Don't like your wages? Don't like the working conditions? Well too bad, you can leave right now I will find someone to replace you within five seconds. Now get back to work!"
Tradition slavery still exists in the Middle East and Africa where people are captured and forced to work. In first world countries the practice has evolved into the abducting of women and having them trafficked all over the world to places like Western Europe, North America, and Asia.
The killing of people still exists today, look again at the middle east. Look at the United States where people are still getting lynched and harassed for their beliefs. Look at the USSR where religion was outlawed, look at china where you can't practice Buddhism.
