I can't say for all, but Coke and Diet Coke do have considerably different tastes and textures. Certainly enough for a varying opinion.
I know people who like Diet Coke but can't stand Coke, and vice versa.

Really though Op should have put a vague poll, like "Cola, Lemonade, Root Beer, Lemon/Lime Soda, Orange Soda, Fruit Sodas...", and then left the topic to be discussing individual brands and types.

I don't like artificially flavored sodas, my favorite type of soda is soda which is flavored with real fruit syrup. If I can't get a hold of naturally flavored soda, then I'd just go for a diet coke.

I like this type of soda called Julmust that they sell in scandinavian countries during the christmas months. This little deli in my area sells it and it's pretty good.

I prefer normal Mountain Dew.

Dr. Pepper, Coca Cola (diet excluded), RC, and Pepsi, all give me horrid stomach issues

Cherry cola. I only count coke products as real soda btw since Coca-Cola is the original soda and best soda and real soda.
