I mean seriously it's been 7 loving years since the last game was made do you actually think they will make it? i don't think they will.

of course they're making it. it's already confirmed that it's happening, the trouble is just that it's been so long and they're very stingy with information on future releases.

Maybe.
I think the people at Valve would like to finish it, but they might have other things they want to do too.

Also, they are very very aware that they've made a popular game series and then taken a long time to finish it, so anticipation has climbed very high.
And I would be afraid when approaching such anticipation that I could ever match it.

I wouldn't want a Mass Effect 3 to happen again if I was making Half Life 3.

They're probably waiting until Steam's finished up with the Steamboxes, then release it to help it along

No, if there's going to be a Half Life 3, they would release it along with Source 2.
I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of HL Mini-episode released with the Steamboxes, or a HL3 ARG.
If a HL3 ARG does come to be, it should span across every Half Life game (excluding the Half Life expansions, Lost Coast, and maybe Half Life: Source. Just the "main" games in the series).

I'm pretty sure valve has stated HL3 will be made when we get the next big technology jump, just like HL2's case.
