actually i find my old CRT to be quite reliable and a lot brighter than my LCD monitor.
The only thing that sucks about a crt is when the computer is off and they make that ear wrenching screechy noise.

Which is why you turn off the monitor along with your pc :v
When my pc was working I'd turn off my monitor every time I didn't use it, even if I was just going to the bathroom.
I can't risk my monitor frying out, its a old one

My CRT doesn't make any idle noises itself but my moms does.
