try on different device. if it still does it it means the jack is short circuiting. aka the thing will die soon

nvm the tablet must've had something in the jack port or it's a bit loose

I'l try, well, not licking but just wiping the end of the cable, see if anything's on it.

EDIT: It seems just wiping the end of the cable fixed it.
