Help solve my pc problem (I'm giving away a steam game)

You can use an 8 pin aux power in a 4 pin port. look closely at the 8 pin connector, does it have some sort of snap in piece that comes apart?

Here are the connectors for the 400 watt PSU:

• 6 pin pci-express (used for graphics card)
• 20+4 pin ATX power connector (Used for Motherboard supply)
• 4-pin +12v power connector (attempted to use for the CPU, to no avail)
• 4 pin floppy drive connector (Unused)
• 4-pin peripheral power connectors (3) (Unused)

  The only real differences is an added graphics card, Vista operating system and 2 additional hard drives.

Edit: Jesus Christ apparently I actually need 800 watts.

I'm pretty sure you don't need that many watts for your build. Many manufacturers vastly overstate the amount of wattage needed for liability reasons. I don't know much about old workstation gpus, but I don't think you'd need more than 600W. Get a second opinion on that

Even if it turns out that you need a 800W psu minimum, I would say that it's not worth it to buy. That machine is old, and you have better options if you were to sell it and build a new computer

It can play most modern games at 60 fps no problems, has racks for multiple Hard Drives,  8 gigs of ram just what I have in there. I really don't want a new one, not when fixing this one should only about about 100 - 150 bucks

If you take it to a tech they might be able to set it up to stagger the start so that it works.

The only time you'll ever approach 800 watts is during startup, if you can stagger it you might get by.

Still not working, with the new 600W

I don't get this, it runs fine, all fans spin it doesn't make any odd sounds, just nothing pops up on the monitor.

That's it, anyone who helps me solve this problem, I'll by them a 60$ game on steam.

your monitor could be dead, not connected, or vga isn't tightened enough.

The monitor is not dead, I have connected it to the laptop and it works fine.

Try plugging your monitor into the vga out on your motherboard instead of the one on the gpu

If nothing displays on your screen, try the following:
Check if the connections are secure.
Check the cables for damage.
Try connecting a different device to the monitor.
Try seeing how many volts your PC needs. You might need a 800 volt PSU, from what it shows.
Make sure the GPU is operating.
If none of these things help at all, maybe you should bring it to the Geek Squad or something.
