Author Topic: Blockland Expansion Pack BEP (RTB Replacement)  (Read 2030 times)

Basically a direct copy of RTB, but it will feel like it's more part of Blockland. However, it still should not replace anything. Unless stated otherwise, most everything in RTB should be doable in BEP in one way or another.

NOTE: THESE ARE JUST IMAGE EDITS! I HAVE NOT DEVELOPED ANYTHING WHATSOEVER BECAUSE I SUCK AT CODING :C

Concepts:

BEP server listing would be to the left, with the pass and dedicated listing. This is because knowing if a server has BEP is pretty much at the same level, if not lower, than knowing if a server is dedicated or passworded. This would also keep the join server window the same as the default size.

BEP options would be in the options menu along with all the other options. All BEP settings will be here.

To help fit all the options in the options menu without resizing the window, the player avatar settings have been reduced into a tab instead of it's own window. The player options window would still exist as many add-ons use it, and the main menu 'Player' option would still lead to it as well.

BEP's manual/help menu would be placed inside Blockland's own default help menu. This would help to save space and just make everything more convenient.

I will make more concepts later.

why not just http://bam-org.github.io

If that website didn't sound do much like a research site, I might not feel so suspicious..

why not just http://bam-org.github.io
Well the site is either broken or there's no content in the other tabs. Mind bothering to tell us what it's about?

probably something port is trying to tease

Via the BEP options menu, you could change various UI graphics.

I got a little lazy with this, basically there would be UI_ prefixed add-ons which can be different types. One could edit windows and their buttons, another could edit the loading graphic, etc. BEP would also allow you to edit more than you can by default. You could provide a 256x256 image to be window backgrounds. You can also do the same with the hud, basically lots more ui edit capability.

The escape menu would be the BEP overlay.

This would make it very simple to implement the overlay, as the escape menu already exists and it would not have any problems with Steam. Simply slap two buttons on there, and it's good to go. Closing the escape menu would close the overlay. Pressing escape while loading a server will not make you disconnect. This would also work on the main menu, but many of the buttons will be gone because you're not meant to use server guis on the main menu.

This is an amazing idea. I would love to help but I dont code

Because there is nothing there...

That mod isn't done, this suggestion isn't done - your point is?

his point is that you're suggesting an alternative with no useful information regarding it

BEP's server control/settings would integrate itself into the default one.

The max players should be typable so people can really max it out if they want to, and having a drop down for 99+ numbers is annoying.

If there is one RTB replacement, this would be the one that should be made. I love some of the ideas of where things are placed, like the add-ons manager and chat being in the escape menu. It would also be nice for the saves gallery/downloader that was planned can be put in above Add-Ons in the menu too.

Of course, some of these features should be optional. Checkboxes would be added in the BEP options tab to toggle some.
