I've recently been looking at the half-life series, it sounds really interesting. I wanted to start at the beginning by playing Half Life 1. Instead of playing the vanilla game, I found a mod called Black Mesa which replaces the textures with newer, high definition ones. I think it also adds more dialogue and stuff.

It is, Johnny's just sadly mistaken as he's only just discovered it

Anyway, the game is on Steam (Greenlight), but the mod's been out for ages now, though it's still incomplete as the game ends before you can get to Xen

I haven't heard anything about their progression with Xen and such

Black Mesa is a completely standalone rebuilding of the original Half Life. It's super professional and I love it so

Half Life: Source is the best version out of all the others. Great lightning and no more of that stuffty quake engine enemy movement lag. Also its official and complete.

They still haven't completed Xen?

That's Valve-tier

I would still go with the original game, the mod isn't finished yet. I also feel the mod is amazing, but doesn't give that classic value.

If only the pizza is consumable, just like the soda.

I accidentally wiped a disembodied leg all over it and it got covered in blood

The barely legal brand names are one of my favorite parts

Considering I won't be able to finish the whole game with Black Mesa, I think I will stick to another version of Hl1.
Half Life 1, or Half Life: Source?
