Author Topic: Will Blockland Be Split In Half?  (Read 3062 times)

This is just a little topic I have been thinking of:
There are multiple IRC mods that have come out already: tetro's, port's, greek's.

I am afraid that people will be competing against each other, but I honestly hope BAM makes it to the top.

i bet badspot will develop an IRC system that becomes integrated but that probably wont happen
i don't care which one i choose, i just want IRC

i dont think anyone should be using ANY irc's anymore.

splitting my ass, i bet the majority would be on steam chats and steam lists use anyway. the irc friends will be the only ones feeling lonely as the months roll by.

Once the IRC is done, we will be making an add-on management type site, where we will have some moderators to approve or disapprove of add-ons. A feature which steam lacks.
Also just so I don't feel like I'm taking all the credit, Visolator and Pacnet are also behind the IRC we are making.

Maybe all 3 could use the same channel? IRC is IRC. You could have 3 different clients that work differently but connected to the same channel.

Sounds good, but we'd all have to agree, which I doubt will happen.

badspot needs to take over the mod hosting/management stuff for blockland. if its true what he was saying about needing to control the flow of content, so mods can be found. the future of blockland does kind of depend on a mod management of some type.

rtb was reliable as forget, but in the end it was still a private user using his own time and money and generosity. that dosnt promise a lifetime of support for a game that will depend on the user created content to get and hold users.

so its a new era with rtb heading out. but i dont think more of the same is the best idea. we shouldnt just copy the old plan over and over.

I have no interest in making an RTB replacement. I only released an edited version of RTB without any of its online features (no IRC!). Port's is the same as mine except that it includes the old RTB 3.5 IRC client.

Also, I probably won't use whatever new chat/IRC system comes up.

I dont really care about IRC chat, what I care about is friend lists, private chatting and server joining & inviting

I honestly hope BAM makes it to the top.
it's just a non-functional web page, you're being trolled.

Lol, it will become the old days in the Blockland Prototype. Where everyone made Mods for the game; Return to Blockland, TDM, Orange Brick, etc.

i honestly think this is the best idea. i don't see these new RTBs lasting more than a year at most. i bet a majority of them will have forums drama issues dragged into moderation and such too. it'd be better to just make it official, so it always supports the new content and changes that will (hopefully) be added to the game in the future

yeah a bunch of rtb ripoffs will split the usefulness of mods more and more and more. and since none of you guys can be trusted to upkeep it for a few years, just the idea only hurts blockland.

An official website to upload and update add-ons by Badspot himself would be nice, something like a blockland shop or something
