Probably because the orders the Germans had to follow were loving insane and they should've known that invading the world will get you known as the enemy? You don't HAVE to follow orders.
Go back in time, and travel to Germany before WWII. Enlist in the military or get drafted if they had that sort of thing, then tell me how easy it is to get out of a national socialist controlled military.

that sounds familiar, what movie was it?

and "just following orders" is not an excuse. you know that what you're doing is wrong, whether or not someone else told you to do it
They're likely "just following orders", either because they were conscripted, or "just paying bills so me and my family can actually live because WWI forgeted our country up hard"

What I am saying is that history classes and the military channel depict the Germans who fought in the war as evil, but they are just following orders.
history is written by the victor

There are no doubt wicked people on both, or all sides, of wars. And there are also not-so-wicked people who just want to get it over with.

if you use the excuse "just following orders," you are undeniably admitting that you knew it was wrong
hindsight is 20/20
you have no idea what i'm talking about do you? in a society where you are indoctrinated everyday that those people are not human, and can be killed without repercussions, and that infact it's RIGHT to kill them, and you were ordered to, then wouldn't you? and what if, suddenly, 5 years later, after you got steamrolled by some slavs and burgers, that those morals turned out to be wrong?

it's not you knew it was wrong, it's that, after all, it was wrong when you thought it was right.

if you use the excuse "just following orders," you are undeniably admitting that you knew it was wrongif there is the threat of death then you can run away on your own, but if you would prefer killing people to being dishonored, you're just as bad as someone who wants to kill people in the first place
Or when you use that phrase you could be responding to a person who just praised you for a heroic deed.

but ya your right. If you did it and you know its wrong, the  your just as bad. But what zombilion is saying is that people's morals and ethics can be altered and changed.

history is written by the victor

if you thought it was the right thing to do, that would be your defense, not "I was just following orders"
that's how it still works in modern times with things like murder

the allied forces ex. America, England, etc.
Mostly Russia but you know just leave them in the etc realm.

that's bullstuff though
except it's not?

there's a reason why the soviets and united states aren't seen as equally terrible or worse than the national socialists

what were you watching? cause now i want to watch it too

Mostly Russia but you know just leave them in the etc realm.

Russia did honestly do most of the work
Care to explain why?
Think if the Germans won, our history books were to say the Americans + friends were evil dogs who wanted to kill the great Reich.
