Author Topic: Construction site map  (Read 2403 times)

Wouldn't it be cool to have a DM in a half finished building? Or loop your jeep through unfinished pipes? That would be one of the coolest maps if someone could pull it off well.

This should use a bat... just a plan.

I might Map partway for it, If I can guess correctly for it i might be able to make some stuff of it break away if you hit it with a car. I wont thought because it wont collapse if the bottom supports break though.

I can do pipes, a building frame, a construction fence and bundles of wood. I can't really think of anything else to add. I suppose I could do a big interior crane, but you wouldn't be able to move it, and it would seriously bump up the release time because I want it to actually look good. I'll have to study cranes and make a few drawings. I'll need to get Constructor working too, because Quark doesn't like aligning things to a grid much, which is a really dumb thing for a modeling program not to do. I'll start working on it tomorrow, and get a beta screenshot out by Thursday, if I get all this paperwork done...

I just did some calculations. Just the treads of the crane are 50 minifigs, 250 1x1s, 1.8 meters, or 6 feet.... The crane is about 1500 minifigs, 7500 1x1s, 57 meters, or 187 feet tall.

What scale should I use? Should I use full scale? Should I scale it to the minifg? Something in between? Because right now, this thing is going to be huge. It would take you a few minutes just to ski down the boom at the current scale.

I'm thinking somewhere between 50% and 75% scale right now.

I kind of new to this whole thing but the scale should be scaled to a human. Take your time and see if you can get some help. I wish I could help more but I can't make maps..... :panda:

what about the fram of a building???oops nm

i gotta work on constructer

I'm going to re-texture the pipes, mainly increase the texture scale so they don't tile as often. I still have a lot more to add. Right now I've got a stack of 3 pipes, a little hilly area to race around in, a small retention pond with drain (also a pipe) to build around, and an unfinished foundation that the building frame is going to go on.

I'm going to try and model a cinder block and a few wood planks tomorrow. Maybe the frame too.

Woah good job! I'm really looking forward to this. Remember the unfinished building.. :cookieMonster:

Someone should make a cement mixer truck that would be awesome and the mixer at the back should be spinning now that would be even more awesome :cookieMonster:

I'm postponing this project indefinitely, I managed to hard-boil my hard drives. I have both Torque Constructor and the newest version of Quark on this computer, so I can start working on it again, but I'm a bit busy right now with figuring out what all I've got left. I have some stuff on my flash drive, a lot of stuff I stored on a different computers on my LAN, and some screenshots/mods I uploaded to various sites. But I lost all my Blockland saves and mods which I didn't back up anywhere, a couple of games I lost the CD key to but still had the CD to run them with, and some documents I didn't have stored elsewhere.

Oh, and I've got a bunch of essays to write for my mid-term.

That sounds gay Wedge, Mid Term >.<
