Apparently, I realised tomorrow, or on 16th February, RTB Hosting is closing.
If im correct, almost every official/popular server is run by RTB Hosting?
Either we will never have them, or if they have enough in there budget, they can just find another hosting or build there own hosting

Well, I am going to probably buy a VPS and just pay for it and host mine and my friends servers on it.
Sadly, it will be pretty expensive most likely. But anyways it's not hard just finding a different hosting service. I bet within the month some random ones will be posted on the forums that are somewhat neat.

Here's my proposal, attempt an investment : buy a better router, and just use your laptop to host, it would be good and you wouldn't have to spend monthly fees on a VPS service, I don't know though, just an idea.

well even if i get a better router my internet provider still sucks and wouldn't be able to support me or my friends' servers.
i really don't mind monthly fees though, i'll figure something out

Your ISP isn't relevant to the quality of how fast your server will run, if you're fine with leaving your laptop running for long periods at a time, just do it, who's your friend and what is he hosting?  Here's what RTB hosting used : http://www.servermania.com/intel-xeon-e3-1270v3-dedicated-server.htm .

well by friends i mean like different blockland servers :/
we already checked what a BL server with max bricks would run and its about like 1.3 GB so for like 3 servers up we would need like 3GB or 4GB (to be safe)
so it wouldn't be anything HUGE like that

maybe like 45 a month

Well not to come off as a debby downer but you don't have a job and unless your parents are going to give you 45 every month then go for it I guess, It would just be a real drag if one month you couldn't pay and then the server goes down.  Goodluck I guess, I'm just saying your best course of action would be getting a better router and just hosting off your laptop.

i'll figure something out
and if i can't then of course i will think of an alternative solution

i thought bandwidth mattered

I've already switched my servers to a high speed VPS.  It costs more than RTB and lacks the fancy interface, but it gets the job done.

i thought bandwidth mattered

The majority of ISPs provide infinite bandwidth. The main things that matter are your endpoint speeds (taking into account ISP speed limits, network card, router, neighborhood, etc.) and your CPU (multiple cores are useless for Blockland, it's only the GHz).

I agree, it's bad for popular servers. Many people are going to be in dire need of a hosting service soon, and hopefully someone will create one which is efficient enough.

Since RTB will close... will we have Steam Workshop integration? Optional, as some people dont like it

Badspot said he would "have to make workshop a go" or something to that effect.
At least Pecon7's server is going to be up, they are going to pay for a vps.
