Author Topic: Realistic Tank(s) for Blockland  (Read 1059 times)

I realize what I'm about to request is far outside the realm that Blockland normally treads in. I understand that Blockland is far from a simulator, and wasn't intended to be one. However, I think that people can genuinely appreciate well-made vehicle in Blockland if the creator takes the time to build them.

I'd like to see a tank to beat all other tanks. A tank so amazing, so spectacular, that Blockland can't even understand it's awesomeness.

What I'd like to see in a tank is:

1: Has a turret that moves slowly, like real tank turrets. (I know that some turrets can go a decent speed, but it should be capped, you shouldn't be able to do a 360 degree turn in one second)
2: Has treads that can bend and flex around objects so bumpy terrain is easy to navigate. (Not just visually, like on the T-90)
3: Has a low center of gravity and is less prone to the unrealistic constant "turtling" of tanks.
4: Has realistic sound effects for driving at different speeds, on different terrain (Based on color of terrain?), realistic tank fire and reload sounds, realistic sounds for stopping, turning, turret movement, etc.
5: Has realistic interior and hud (I don't expect perfection, but at least the basic HUD on the gunner's position would be nice)
6: I'd like to have the shells have drop-off that's relatively realistic. I think some tanks do this already.

Realistic armor is perhaps entirely impossible. It's just the way torque works. Real tanks don't have "Health". A shell can bounce off, penetrate, explode on contact, or otherwise. Having a tank with segmented parts that can be damaged individually is completely impossible, i'm sure. (IE: Tank treads get shot, right tread no longer works)

Note: It can be based off a real-life tank, or entirely unique. It's up to you to decide.
I realize that a good chunk, if not all of this is entirely impossible due to the engine Blockland runs on, Torque.

If anyone, anyone at all wants to give this a shot, I would be eternally grateful. I'd even help record and edit a trailer for the tank and post it on youtube, then share the link on the forums. I'd be happy to beta-test or anything of the sort.

Thank you for your time.

TL;DR: I want a really realistic tank. If you want to make it (and think you can) I'll be eternally grateful.

i'd love to see the this happening!

why
people don't like it when you do that, why put a signature when they can just look at the top left corner of the screen and see who posted it

Because, i am assuming, he wan'ted people to know his Blockland name not Forum name. "Ducky duck" is not my BL name, well , it used to be.

no it's really just being a friend
you could always just put your ign in your profile

Updated OP with one more request, removed signature. Also added a poll.

1 is not possible.
2, you can't have actual treads, how my T-90 has it is pretty much as close as it gets.
4 regarding engine sounds, one can't change the pitch but play different sounds so yeah. It wouldn't sound too nice but it's possible.
5 is also possible.
Realistic armor is somewhat possible, it just depends on what you want. And treads being shot to pieces is actually possible.

You should make more military vehicles for us :)
