Call of Duty: Ghosts is Bad
For those who have known me for quite some time, you would know that I used to post in the Black Ops II megathread and even the MW3 megathread. A lesser person would say to me "wow you're a friend because you play an overrated game :(." or "go choke on your golden carrot-with-a-scope, handicap."
Yeah, I know Call of Duty isn't exactly the best game ever, probably just a waste of hard drive space in some cases, but in actuality I really love the series because it tests yourself on a virtual, modern battlefield. Remember Quake? Yeah, Call of Duty has a modified engine based on Quake's. First Person Shooters in general is rather infamous nowadays because of Call of Duty, but that doesn't mean we should put in a sack and burn it so it won't "taint" other genres or something.
"So in that case, Slammer, what are your thoughts on Ghosts, the latest game in the franchise?"
...where do I loving begin??
Couple of disclaimers:
This was typed up on an iPhone 5s. Expect mistakes and uncleanliness.
Yes, this wall of text is a rant. Feel free to bitch about it, but I'm just trying to get a point across.
A big portion of this topic is about Multiplayer, mainly because it's one of Call of Duty's strongest aspects. I probably won't even get to the alien invasion game mode thing at all.
I won't talk about the DLC, forget that stuff.
This experience was from the Xbox 360 version of the game. Apparently Ghosts in the PC version is better optimized. PC master race wins again :)/:(
Campaign
MAJOR SPOILERS; TREAD CAREFULLY
Yes, the loving dog gets hurt at one point in the game. Do I care? No.
Probably the worst aspect in this game's storyline is it's characters. I have no sympathy for them because they're boring. Do I care that Logan or whoever the main protagonist was gets taken by what's-his-face at the end of the game? Not really. Do I care that Hesh's and Logan's father dies? No.
Why? Because I just couldn't give two stuffs about them. Let me explain the story in one sentence: Two brothers join super secret operations group to kill bad guys, plot-twists and sad events later, game ends.
Logan is a silent protagonist, which already detracts points since this a FPS that's suppose to have a deep story. All he's really there for is to be the badass mofo who shoots the big bad starfish with a heavy caliber handg- er revolver. Yeah, he saves Hesh from drowning, but that just further proves my point because they nuked themselves to destroy the big bad starfish's life-sized Thomas the Tank Engine toy and
survived when they were suppose to be dead with the big bad starfish.Hesh is pretty much the Frank Woods of the game, nothing special. forget sakes they need to stop reusing that idea of characters.
Hesh's and Logan's father turns out to be the leader of Ghosts, which was pretty much this game's big plot-twist. Honestly, that kind of caught me off guard. But that's it. Yeah, he has connections with the big bad starfish as well, but when looking at it, it's pretty much a revenge plot with a severe lack of meat on it's bones.
Riley is pretty much used as the wildcard while in combat. You can use him to attack enemies while in gunfights. Honestly, this idea of attacking enemies isn't as useful unless your desperate to make it to the next checkpoint. You control Riley in one mission, but the key word there is
one mission.
I really couldn't tell any more reasons why the story is forgettable because I only had one playthrough of it. My fault I guess, but who would want to go back to a forgettable story anyhow?
Multiplayer

OH MY GOD SPAWN SYSTEM WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU?!
Er, sorry. Got ahead of myself.
Ghosts: Multiplayer tried to be more like Battlefield by having an updated engine which makes rushing a death sentence unless you have the perks or a MTAR-X and big maps.
First of all, big maps aren't really popular in the Call of Duty community to begin with. And there's a reason why. Call of Duty is an Arcade Shooter, a sub-genre of Shooters in general. With the way Call of Duty is handled, playing on big maps can be
loooong. That's probably the reason why Domination has no time limit! Also, some of the weapons are not made for big maps. K7 on Stonehaven? You're forgeted. Honeybadger on Stonehaven? Start flanking, boy.
The maps aren't really close range friendly at all, which is also why almost all the sniper rifles hit like a tank and why Marksman Rifles exists in the first place!
If there's one thing that turns this game into the Black Plague is the spawning system. I'm being serious, it's contagious.
So, why is spawning in Call of Duty in general such a clusterforget? Two things: anti-spawn trapping and revenge spawning. I'm not going to go into the anti-spawn trapping system because it's the same as any other game: both helpful and cheap.
The revenge spawning has been tweaked where you can spawn near your killer for a chance to get revenge... I'm sorry, did I say near? I meant
next. I'm serious, get a good streak going with your AK-12 and watch your enemies appear all around you like they're loving ghosts (no pun intended). I counted at least 8 times where someone spawned right behind me in maps like Strikezone or War Hawk. I even had someone spawn in front of me! What the fu-
If you guys haven't already known (and that's probably 95% of you guys) I used to play the hell out of Free-for-All in MW3 and especially Black Ops II. So much it became my main game mode and I love it because of its fast paced action. The only real drawback is that spawning is a little iffy. Unfortunately and predictably, Ghosts' spawning issues whipped FFA pretty hard, so much that I minds of well call it "forgeted-for-All" because it's practically unplayable! That's right, the spawning in this game is so horrendous it
killed a game mode!Every other detail about Multiplayer ranges from mediocre to okay. I like the weapons in a technical standpoint, especially the Assault Rifles. The new game modes are geh, and I can't loving stand the Squad Points and how to get them (seriously guys cut that stuff out; the Modern Warfare series did it's system of obtaining weapons right).
I can definitely say though that this is probably the worst Call of Duty multiplayer mode. Of all time.
Overall Rating: 3/10, looks pretty but would not bang

This is seriously a step back from the likes of Black Ops II. The story is forgettable and multiplayer is stuff. I might go back to the game one day since this is pretty much the Call of Duty of 2014, but it's going to be a regrettable one.
NO THIS TOPIC WASNT MADE BECAUSE OF SILVERGHOST123'S TOPIC I DONT KNOE WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT
