Author Topic: I came out to my mom this morning (The Gay Megathread)  (Read 20014 times)

not really
I mean, I was purposefully trying to make the pond scum thing as silly as I could because I didn't want people to think I was being serious. it didn't work .-.
and trash wasn't really supposed to be either
I've never seriously called people "pond scum" or "trash" even :v
Oh good gosh

why didn't you say this sooner damn it

  • I posted saying that I didn't think that being gay was a natural thing.
wrong. maybe you have a bad memory or something
you said that people are only gay because they're either
A. confused
or B. doing it just cus they want to
Actually if you read correctly he said "I didn't think being gay was a natural thing".  And the two things he listed aren't natural.  You're wrong.

Hey people who have been arguing.

you are not gay, so how can you know if it a choice?

end of argument

you cannot make an argument against gay people if you are not gay

it's like saying that you never had apple pie and list how horrible is taste and that eating it is sinful

Oh good gosh
why didn't you say this sooner damn it
I didn't really think it was important. it took me like three full lines to explain that, and it was easier to just talk about what I thought was necessary

there is a difference between saying homoloveuality is unnatural and saying that it isn't genuine

Wrong, I can argue about it because you don't chose any loveuality (including homoloveuality) so we still have a voice about this.  It's not just gay, people don't chose being straight, biloveual, etc.  Your point is invalid.

No harm intended but..
Why do we need to know this.
Because why not? There's not exactly a shedule of things to discuss on here, so whatever turns up is worth discussing.

Plus, it's a character-defining moment for OP, which he wishes to share with people similar to him, which there are a lot of here.

For those circumstances I like to just call people "silly", or "silly sausage" or something similar.

thanks for making this thread builda omg it got me to finally really consider it

Congratulations. I'm happy for you.

A little off topic: And speaking of which, just because someone has the label "scientist" or "professional" doesn't mean you need to lap up every last word they say as a fact. This is what has killed critical thinking. Nobody thinks beyond the teacher or the classroom anymore. A person can study for years and still be wrong.
You are correct. Some people claim a title and then spew off bullstuff (I'm looking at you, Dr. Oz)
But I'm not referring to statements that individual people make. In this case when I say "professionals" what I really mean is "an official consensus made by major scientific bodies, such as the American Psychological Association and many others"

The problem with this is that its entirely optional whether or not TO take his word for it.
Why should someone give the word of some random child on the internet anywhere near as much credibility as major scientific groups?

Because of his stance naturally you can only assume that he isn't researched and indeed hasn't studied.
My assumption is not at all based off his stance. I never dismiss someone based solely on their stance on the issue, I will hear what they have to say. I've changed my mind on a few issues based on what the opposite side had to say. My assumption it based off of his complete lack of even an attempt to refute the evidence given to him, or even acknowledge arguments I've made. He's proven he's just another one of those types who are stuck in their ways and don't want to change.

Anyways I'm heading to work now. I'll check out whatever you have to say when I get back.

I am talking about how people say that it is a choice, and they cannot possibly know unless they are gay.

Well congratulations to Buildabox, and Night Fox as well. It takes courage to come out since you never know how they might react. Though when they're not religious, it makes things a bit easier.
