Author Topic: Youtube videos crashing monitor  (Read 1114 times)

I believe it was the recent Youtube update that started this, but every once in a while a youtube video won't show up and will instead crash my monitor, requiring me to restart my computer.

This means that I don't really like clicking on youtube links because there's always a chance that I'll have to restart my computer.

I've tried:
  • Updating my graphics drivers
  • Updating flash player
  • Using a different browser
  • Using HTML5

Any suggestions?

Can you play games just fine?

Tried another browser?

Games are fine, except for a few that have refresh rate issues.
I'll try another browser.

You really should do a whole check-up on your computer before it gets any worse

try unplugging your monitor and plug it into your graphics card/ the port on your mobo if you have one

My dad's computer would shut off hard while watching YouTube video's, but could play games just fine. Eventually the power supply burned out. I dunno why it wouldn't happen while playing games.
I say just try another browser.

Pretty soon I'll open up my computer and start dusting some things off, make sure nothing's loose.

Luckily mine doesn't seem this severe, since it's just my display that crashes.

Huh, I seem to be getting a similar issue, but with all video medians. I'll start a video and my screen will go all crazy with these loving lines, and the only way to get rid of it is to close the program that has video on it, or hard shutoff the computer. I tried to update my BIOS in case I was getting hardware compatibility issues, but I ended up getting a corrupt BIOS.

you're forgeted ultimately now

it wouldn't have any output if you did plug it into the motherboard if he had a graphics card in it
unless it was enabled, which I doubt
OP, try using HTML5 and see if that fixes anything. Are you sure it isnt a hardware issue

or you can just order a new motherboard chip like he did
please do research before posting

I really don't have any idea. The problem just started around the time of the recent update to youtube.
I tried HTML5, nothing.

Try watching YouTube videos with your computer instead of your monitor.
