The second law of thermodynamics claims that, in a closed system, energy will be lost to heat. If you watched the Bill Nye vs. Ken Ham debate, this is actually brought up. It's pretty simple: Earth is not a closed system. It is constantly receiving energy from the sun.

was a closed system, evolution would be the least of our worries. Earth would literally be devoid of life.
