Edit:

First, I need to apologize. This has been proven to be a hoax.
I apologize to the off-topic board for being a dumbforget, and starting a stupid POS topic like this.

Second off, if you really do want to try and stop Sopa-like content; sign this peditition.

these petitions don't do anything

can someone direct me to a credible source speaking of this "SOPA 2014"

if it's literally the exact same bill then wtf i thought it was "shelved indefinitely"

not this horse stuff again

these petitions don't do anything

But isn't this like on the official whitehouse gov page or whatever?

Why would anyone stop the act that stops online piracy?

SOPA is back, eh?

I don't believe it yet. I want a source, please.

Why would anyone stop the act that stops online piracy?

piracy = bad

what SOPA actually does = worse

not this horse stuff again

But isn't this like on the official whitehouse gov page or whatever?

laws are not passed just because the majority wants them. thats not how government works.
polls are a joke, even if ran by the gov. its all just a ploy to let the stupid people of this generation think they have a voice.

I doubt the facade will last long if they completely ignore the people this time.

sopa is dead and will never return. but a new bill with a new name that does all the same things can and will be created like yearly for the rest of our lives.
and all will be passed anyways, as the attention span of people only goes so far, they have an attitude like they won and turn around the face the other way for a while while other bills get passed.

Google it.
no. the only thing google gives me is this bollocks petition and stuff about the original SOPA. give me something other than this panicky petition that appears to be made by an idiot that gives no information other than "MAKE THEM STOP THIS THING I SAY IS HAPPENING!!!"

Why would anyone stop the act that stops online piracy?
the issue was the way that SOPA looked to deal with piracy. it was a sweeping piece of legislation that would hold the websites responsible for any small "offense" of piracy that takes place on it. rather than punishing those that actually pirate things, it would punish websites for having anything that might be considered a means for piracy. this would include p much any social media site, youtube, any file sharing website, etc.

voters need to stop giving congressmen that only think they know what the internet is jobs, and this will probably solve all of these issues
