My tap water tastes fine, but the city that my college is at gets their water from a river rather than underground wells so they thrown in a ton of chlorine. I see the river everyday and I don't blame them.

Yeah, I don't see why OP and his tap-water crusaders aren't fighting chlorine and heavy metal contamination in the water supply. That's totally unintentional and it's definitely unhealthy. They should pick their targets better.

Same the tap water where I live tastes like soap + after a while the filter gets so black it's disgusting to look at.

I buy everything organic, including soaps, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.. And honestly, it's working a whole lot better than the chemical crap I used to use. I installed a 6-stage filter on my house water, tested cleaner than bottled water. 

I have my own organic garden too which I grow corn, peas, strawberries, blueberries, apples, etc in. In fact I just bought a 500 gallon SmartPot to try out, I've had great success with other SmartPots.

I am actually, I should explain more.

The soaps and such are because my skin is sensitive to almost everything, so I avoid chemicals where I can for that. I buy organic toothpaste because of the fluoride, you can believe what you want. But if fluoride can be used to make a bomb then surely it cannot be good for you.

The organic food is mostly just a preference, I don't want to eat GMO food without proper long-term testing. Which has yet to be done. I also find that some non-organic food gives me stomach issues whereas the organic version of it don't. As of 2013 26 countries ban GMO crops. Hawaii also banned GMO crops. Surely that says something. Small communities have also banned them. You can check out March Against Monsanto which is making all this possible in the first place.

Most of my family comes to me for organic food since I'm the grower. Last year my tomatoes were praised as "the best ever", even got paid for some. 

As for the water filter, that's because our well water is very high in iron. There are chunks of it in the filter. I actually had a hydroponics system last year and the iron completely clogged up the pump multiple times and the pipes were completely orange and rendered almost unusable.
