Author Topic: The Future of Blockland?  (Read 1818 times)

Has Badspot ever made any announcement as to his plans for the future of this game or it's development?
If not, then why?

because Blockland is dead and will never be good again oh woe is me what a horrible world we live in if only someone cared about us or more importantly me and what I feel and want because what I want is what I need and what I need is what you deserve

we just wanna know what bedpost is doing next

I remember, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but Badspot mentioned that he doesn't enjoy working on Blockland as much as he used to anymore.

I guess it's because it started to become to much work... Not saying that's a bad thing, seeing as Garage Games is pretty damn tiny, after all.

I'm pretty curious about what else he's working on, or would like to work on.

Besides his pixel sidescroller, of course.

Let me help you out with that topic title.  There.

Right now the truth is that Blockland makes too much money for me to ignore it.  There are too many people expecting updates and fixes.  I've dabbled in other games but I haven't fully committed because they probably wouldn't sell as many copies as Blockland.  I can already hear the cries of "sell out!", but that's the way it is.  I don't think I have ever compromised my morals to get more sales, so you cannot shame me for success (especially while other people are shaming me for not being successful enough).

Naturally, Blockland is not as engaging for me to work on as it used to be (what were you working on 10 years ago?  Is it still entertaining for you?) - but I would still like to improve it.  I'd like to get the game to a slightly more self sustaining place, where user generated content feeds back into the game with little or no input from me.  I guess I've been saying that for years but it's still true.  I guess that means I have to make workshop go.

There's the quote I was thinking of!

I like how as soon as Badspot posted that quote, everyone started bashing him even more for not working his ass off for the engine, not adding more stuff every 3 seconds, and stuff like that, which was probably not a good way to inspire baddy to work more on this game

I just need him to add wheels addons, and moving block physics and I'll be happy. We can build everything, but not cars (without the use of addons), so the time we get create-able cars will be a great time

Oooh I can imagine vehicle TDM servers where people create a tank or something and then they all go around blasting each other with their behicle literlaly breaking apart like someone dropped a lego car onto the floor.

Oh yes, that would be fun.

> 2 major and complicated changes
> "just"

One of two things could be happening. Either he's working on something big, or he's being lazy.

For this to work, we have to change explosives as if they were some sort of radius destructo wand, so if you attack the base of something, the whole thing would go down, like IRL

Or both
