Author Topic: Greatest Sports Player Discussion  (Read 1288 times)

I may be a bit biased, but I think that overall, across every major team sport (baseball, football, hockey, basketball, soccer, etc), the greatest player ever is Wayne Gretzky. What I mean is:  in hockey, he was better than Ruth was in baseball, or Jordan/Russel/Johnson in basketball, or Pelé in soccer, etc.

What do you guys think? If you're confused about what I mean, I can try to clarify. Lets also try to keep this a discussion and not an argument.

You wouldn't put Ruth above him? I see that you are also a bit biased. :P

Yeah I am biased a bit.  Ruth was probably the greatest pioneering player though.  Other MLB players that I like include the great ones (Mickey Mantle, Jackie Robinson, etc) but granted most of my favorites are/were Cardinals :P

JEROME BETTIS THE HUMAN BUS!

Bo Jackson, hands down

El Shaarawy
Pelé
Michael Jordan
Kobe Bryant
Balotelli
samuel eto'o
Hernan Crespo
Maradona

Pretty much this. I'm made of glass. I fractured myself stepping on an apple. I do play soccer, tennis and baseball once in a while.

NEnê is a good athlete too, and yes...he only has a first name.

MLB: Ted Williams
NBA: Michael Jordan
NHL: Wayne Gretzky
NFL: Jerry Rice

Yes, but I am saying that Gretzky was better in hockey than other players were in their respective sports, if that makes sense.

Bo Jackson kicked ass at two sports, in both college and pro.
