because companies are crappy and won't release everything as free as in freedom software
which basically compromises all our freedoms and as a side effect leaves us helpless in these cases
in short: proprietary software is evil

im trying to install nvidia304xx drivers
The nvidia 304xx drivers don't need to be installed via makepkg. They can be installed with pacman -S nvidia-304xx

or is that package for arch, not manjaro

cause nal is using manjaro

I'm 99% sure that manjaro's pacman syncs with the Arch Linux pacman repositories.

kay now i got manjaro installed properly on a vm and i have basic stuff up and running
What kind of customizations (mostly GUI since I'm a windows guy) are readily available?

If you get xfce4 then you can make it look and work exactly like Windows.

I'm having no luck with software that is supposed to create bootable LiveCD installations on USB drives. Any recommendations?

If I were you I'd use a cd or dvd if available. They are much easier because all you have to do is burn the iso.

meh mine seem to always get messed up, and all the cd's i have laying around my house have only 700 MB space.

anyways yea pecon you should use unetbootin, it can burn the distro to the usb if you have it pre-installed, or it can just download it for you
atleast that's what i used for windows

universal usb installer

Finally managed to get a liveUSB of linux mint installed.

Really, really, really really really impressed

This literally breaths new life into old computer systems, and it doesn't have that kinda clunky feel that ubuntu had.

i really like manjaro
