Author Topic: Tennessee passes bill allowing bullying to other LGBT students  (Read 9873 times)

Heh, just wanna point out that the most simple protein (which is necessary for life) has a 1 in 10000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000 000000000000000000000000000 chance of being formed.
hey, just wanna point out, that statistic is pulled right the forget out of your ass. also, there's innumerous stars and places for life to form in the universe (beyond the observable reaches as well), plus any life that did form would obviously be part of the minority (since they can observe themselves).

I know what your stance is, you are saying that the radiation could be coming from another source other than the Big Bang. But, do you have any proof that could give your point some credibility? It doesn't have to be proven completely true, but you haven't posted evidence supporting your point.
Ok what are you smoking because I really want some.

You're missing the point, I'm not here to put evidence out for other sources, I'm here to point out how our ASSUMPTIONS on where the radiation came from are subject to criticism and are possibly fallible. I'm not here to disprove but to point out there is a chance it can be disproven. Though how is it proof if its fallible. Huh.

No it's not. No one ever said our most plausible model is correct. It's the one that makes the most sense, so we use it in our understanding of the universe.

Nobody said THAT of course. Sure it makes the most sense, but it can still be wrong. You're assuming though its correct based on how comfortable you are with it.
What the forget should we do instead? Not use any model of the universe since it's probably wrong?
Of course not. Keep believing what you believe but don't shoulder other belief systems out of the way claiming yours is right when it can in fact probably be wrong. :cookieMonster:

This bill is a good idea. We've all seen the affects on children when they aren't getting their daily dose of bullying. You outlaw bullying and autism will spread like wildfire.

Are you one of those people that go around saying "don't say anything is true cuz u can't prove any of the things 1938% absolutely positively"

-> I reject the Big Bang, but have yet to come up with a conclusive reason.  This can stand as invalid as far as I'm concerned until I study it more.
Yeah there's actually some cool stuff going on around now with the apparent discovery of gravitational waves. I think atm there is ongoing peer review of the supposed findings, and if the findings withstand these, that will be a strong addition to the evidence for the Big Bang.

I appreciate your median stance though. It gives me hope for the happy coexistence of conflicting mindsets.
I think the most important thing in this is the idea of doing your own thinking. Not sticking to what people tell you. Actually looking for answers.

There's a massive philosophical disconnect here.

Of course! Gee sure took you a long time to catch on.

Absolutely nowhere did I ever say it's correct. This entire time I've been saying it's just our best explanation.

Quit trying to put words into my mouth.

a couple miles isn't that deep...
it definitely is when you're talking about something over the surface of the earth
mount everest is only a little less than five and a half miles tall, and it's the highest point above sea level on the planet

I was more or less referencing Nonnel but by also the hilarious fact that you say Creationism isn't a plausible belief system when yours is just as screwed in the head as theirs is.

Of course! Gee sure took you a long time to catch on.

actually I didn't catch on, you can't prove I did

I guess even if we can repeat experiments that demonstrably show that something is true (such as in the case of all of our technology), it still isn't true because ???

The big bang theory is supported by modern science, although there are competing theories.

Creationism is just the laughing stock. You can't equate the two at all.

being a bitch about errors in science doesn't mean there's an invisible flying hippie jew in the sky

because saying something is true 100% of the time then having it not work a single time invalidates the whole system. we operate on acceptable margins, p < .05, to say something is generally true. not everything works in absolutes in actual science.

You can't disprove something without evidence, that makes no sense.

when yours is just as screwed in the head as theirs is.

Look, it's okay to believe in creationism, but don't go dissing things you don't understand.
