Author Topic: Authentication: Validating Key [Help!]  (Read 4361 times)

This is an issue that's been preventing me from playing blockland for well over a year now. I've tried finding help online and even emailing for support but it's all lead to dead ends or dropped communication. Now that Blockland is on steam I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue.

I can open Blockland with absolutely no issue, but it refuses to authenticate my key, and I'm permanently stuck with the message "Authentication: Validating Key" at the bottom of my screen.

This issue has not fixed itself, as I've stated it's been over a year since I've been able to play Blockland. I've tried resetting blockland, uninstalling it, etc. Nothing seems to work, which is a shame because Blockland was once my favorite game.

I don't know if this would help, but I'm running on a laptop with windows 7. I'm not running on an administrator account, there are various restrictions (anti-virus programs, inappropriate content, etc. Nothing that I think would interfere with Blockland. I've set my anti-virus to ignore Blockland as well.), and my firewall has no issues with the game.

I'm hoping someone can help me, thank you in advance.

Any sort of support would be appreciated, I'm just kind of stuck here, waiting.

does it still give you the option to re-enter your key? my sister had this issue once but it randomly fixed itself.

are you sure that blockland has a valid connection to the internet? how long do you leave it to authenticate?

1. If I play Blockland through Steam it doesn't let me, but if I use the regular launcher it will let me re-enter my key (which does nothing). It recognizes that my key is valid, but it doesn't authenticate it.

2. Yes, I can get a full list of servers, I just can't access any of them because I'm not authenticated.

3. I've left it for hours before, nothing has changed.

Bump, because I'm hoping to actually have this issue resolved finally...

Ok so did you buy the game form amazon?

No, I paid through Paypal.

I would be very happy if I could maybe get some help on the help forum...

It's almost been a week...

This is a long shot, but do it anyway.
Put this URL into your browser (I use Chrome and it works for me):
http://master2.blockland.us/

Leave the tab open and launch Blockland.

If it doesn't Auth, oh well.

Have you tried deleting the entire Blockland folder and running the launcher again so it downloads new files?

You realize this does absolutely nothing, right?

It may be the case that your firewall is blocking the communication.
Have you tried turning that off?

Can you read?

bump. This guy's been having trouble for a while.

Maybe try to install Blockland not under program files.
I am speculating because you are not running on a administrator account, an administrator has installed the game for you.
This can mean that you do not have write rights to program files or any subfolder when running the game.
Which in term may interfere with writing the key.dat file.

Try installing it in your personal folder, you should have full right there.
Or, if you do know the admin password, open it by right clicking, choosing "run as Administrator" and entering the password.

I had the same problem for a month or so and it turned out a parental block was messing it up. I uninstalled it and it has been fine since
