Author Topic: Thinking of doing Let's plays, any tips?  (Read 676 times)

Well, lately I've been pondering things I could do for my empty Youtube channel, something gaming related and while I don't trust myself enough to do game reviews or anything like that I figured I might give LPs a shot.

I would be planning to have serious game play (actually trying to play the game, shuts mouth during cut scenes) with humor thrown in that would be similar to the style of Game Grumps, Markiplier, etc. not PewDiePie.

I know a few of you have done LPs before and I'm wondering if you could give me any tips if I were to start doing them? Like what would be a good recording program, good audio recording program, what games should I focus on, how should I do my commentary and so on. (I'm broke off my ass so keep that in mind) If I were to do it, it probably wouldn't be in the near future but if it does I'd probably just update this topic n' stuff.

just dont
its overdone to hell

Oversaturation
Watering down
Diluting
Thining out

I know and I would agree in most cases, there are only a few LPers that I still find entertaining to watch, I'm mainly just debating it right now.

watch lots of retsupurae's videos, they do riffs on mostly bad LPs and you should watch some and find out what's being done wrong

well, here's how:

step one: DON'T

super paper mario is a good start
do not pull a pewdiepie and start playing slender or somestuff

i honestly like watching people lets play games that no one rly knows about

dont lets lay only MC or scary games (pewdiegay)
or be annoyin

the day OP plays worlds is the day OP is no longer a friend

only letsplayers i actually watch is GameGrumps, Markiplier, and Cryaotic

EDIT: oops you were asking for tips to, uhhh
all i can say is have a good mic idk what else

If I do this, I will rarely play any scary games like Slender or Amnesia, for those are
overdone to hell

If I ever end up doing MC It will most likely be with one of my friends, because I usually never play Minecraft alone. Games I will be doing will be games I honestly enjoy, not what's currently hot at the moment. If a game is currently popular and I do enjoy it, then whee!

If only i had it :'( also I will most likely keep it to PC games for now until I can get up enough money to buy decent recording software for consoles.

Try to keep a good balance of being informative and being funny. Too many channels these days are all about screaming in a microphone while playing stuffty horror games.

Do some reading up on what you're playing before you play it so you can have interesting and relevant commentary if you plan on having commentary. I can't stress how much boring commentary kills a video completely.

No way.

Paper Mario to Thousand Year Door. SPM was okay, but not great.

Different strokes for different folks.
Get it?
Strokes?
Like pen strokes?
On paper?

Don't use a reaction cam unless you really feel it's useful (I personally suggest stuff you;d get some reactions out of if you were going to do that.)

People are there to watch you play the game not look at your face... Unless your pewdiepie I guess.
