Author Topic: Is the 2DS worth it only to play Animal Crossing and one or two other games?  (Read 1352 times)

I'm just wondering, because I'm thinking about getting a 2DS. Animal Crossing is just such a peaceful game and I've always wanted to play New Leaf.

the 3/2DS has some really good games. Get the 3DS if you think you're gonna use the 3D often ( like 1% of all 3DS users ), but the 2DS is a better option if you don't care about 3D.

Thanks for the advice! I don't care for the 3D, and I'd be ok with the 2DS. I'd rather save $20-50.

Also what games would you recommend? PS: I don't like those generic Zelda RPG's, Sonic games, Mario games, or Pokemon games.

Get a 3DS if you care about taking it places.

An advantage of the 3ds are the hinges so it's more portable

I can't really help you there. The only non-Nintendo game I have is Angry Birds Trilogy, which is only good if you like puzzle games.

However, if you'll let me slip in one 'generic' game, get Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

And a disadvantage of the 3ds are the hinges because they break easily

this is some tight quantum physics stuff right here.

how are you supposed to break it
like the only way you could break it is to throw it at a wall

Over time the hinges will come loose. My cousin has like 2 DS lites which are both really loose on the hinges. I've never seem them in brand new condition, but im guessing that they were supposed to move less.
Also my 3DS XL from 2012, which has a feature that lets the screen locks into certain angles, has come loose.
When i move it around a little the screen shakes. When it was brand new, it was stiff and didn't shake at all. Give it 2 more years and the thing wont lock into place anymore.

My 3DS XL's screen also moves around horizontally. Again, this didn't happen before. The hinges are bad.

3ds for streetpasses and HHA model homes, since 2ds might be big for a pocket

I don't see why someone wouldn't just put their 3DS in a bag in which a 2DS fits fine as well.

If you're going to go outside, I'm betting that you cannot fit your 3ds, keys, phone and wallet (maybe headphones) in the same 2 pockets.

What do you wear, super cargo pants?

Niko, lets go bowling

So here is your cousin, just saying that if you open the hinges too fast, it may sometimes break, and if you accidentally drop the DS with the screen faced to the floor, the hinges may break and go over the extreme position and go whack.
(I had actually 3, but my mom made a ragequit once when I played too much and smashed my DS into the floor)
