Not to mention this guy got KILLED by his cell phone exploding.
if he got killed then how did he take the picture and why does he need 2 phones?

implying only phones can take pictures

if the battery exploded wouldn't the battery acid burn straight through his skin?

ouchhhh

hell to the no. Battery acid isnt that acidic. Im pretty sure anyways. You would get burns and maybe loose some skin but not straight through your hand.

Okay, so the ions aren't LiOH, they're LiCoO2.  Not an acid.  It's a base.

Most high end phone and laptop batteries nowadays have Lithium Polymer (LiPoly) batteries. If they were to short circuit the could potentially expand and burst, but not likely with the force required do break through the phone. They also don't have a rigid casing like Lithium Ion batteries which could help pressure build. Notice how when you Google "phones exploding" the only images you see are of older, or low end phones. A phone exploding is an extremely rare thing and no one should be worried about their phone blowing up unless you short circuit it intentionally.

Today in class my friend put too much voltage into a circuit and one of the capacitors blew up in his face

Batteries don't use acid, sillies. They use alkaline metals. Lithium is an alkaline metal.

Sue them.
Well, idk if he could
that would be a waste of time and money

Aqueous solutions of ZnCl2 are acidic: a 6 M aqueous solution has a pH of 1.

Phones and laptops use Li-Ion batteries now IIRC.

That's a specific type.  The type used in phones, laptops and tablets is Lithium Ion, a base.

Another guy took it.

i know but he was throwing a blanket "batteries dont use acid" not a "lithium ion batteries dont use acid"

The original post was a joke but thanks for the info.

You seriously need to loving stop.
