Let's see-
-Linux barely gets any viruses, sometimes even none, because a program needs root permissions to change stuff around
-Linux is much faster and more lighweight than windows
-Most linux games are free, as well as most linux software
-pretty desktop
-fast navigation
-"workspaces", which are like different work areas. lets say you put blockland in one workspace, and age of time in the other.
you click a cube to change to the workspace with age of time, and you click another cube to change to the blockland workspace
you can also open more programs in a workspace
waste of time and useless
-pretty desktop
implying you cant in windows
-fast navigation

linux games suck, steam is the only good thing out of it
-Linux barely gets any viruses, sometimes even none, because a program needs root permissions to change stuff around
because its so hard to install an antivirus

im running windows 8 with 520mbs of ram on idle.
wow, so much bloat huh
-a lot of drivers are pre-installed- you can just plug in your iphone or ipod and IT WILL RECOGNIZE IT, unlike windows
It won't detect i devices you idiot.
Hold up.
You should only consider getting Linux if you think you are ready. It isn't for the casual user. It's much more complicated than windows. Except Ubuntu. Ubuntu just sucks.
there isn't anything wrong with ubuntu itself, unity is just slow out of the box. Just install unity tweak and remove all the online searches + file searches and its as fast as any other DE.
OP just install virtualbox and try it out, if you like it then switch to it.
Linux is trash, so other most other trashy native operating systems. dont do it.
i highly doubt you have the intelligence or attention span to try it.
we don't need another purplemetro "check out my new distro" stuff every other day.
that only occurs in the desktop thread from time to time, hell I distro hop and that's completely normal.
The only instance I would say to switch to windows is if you've forgeted over your computer and want to fall back on something or you don't play games like others do. I've actually gotten playonlinux to run with steam. I've actually gotten it to run most games completely fine including blockland, if you include wine there's little less you can do on linux then windows.
-windows 8 will usually require your permission to run a program if it's unfamiliar with it
that's if you don't disable UAC.
1. you used an apple product
2. your windows installation was likely crap
mac is actually unix based, but i think you need a custom music player for it to detect it, plus he's using an apple product, so what do you expect.
didn't he run windows vista or something on his computer? People like setro who use linux really piss me off and some others in the linux community who constantly bash you and shove down your throat that you /need/ to use it or you'll appear inferior to them. Jesus christ, op if you want to play games just stick with what you have. If you're using it as a workstation then go right ahead and use linux, I'll warn you it'll be more complicated then you think for when you first install it.
