They have to be 64x64 now AFAIK. That's how I fixed mine, might have just been luck.

I've been able to change my avatar to anything as long as it isn't a gif. Just have to slam F5 after changing my avatar until it looks right.

wasnt it previously 72x72?

Yeah, I think a PHP update or something broke it. It might just be that I lucked out with the 64x64 version.

it as 75x75 originally

Can someone else confirm that it's 64x64 now? Having no luck here. I'm using a PNG and it's not lettin' me :c

It's still 75x75. The forum basically now only changes immediately if it's a different filetype you haven't recently used. Like BMP or tiff.

They're practically broken unless you're lucky.

If I remember correctly, SMF added an update that changed the way they check for viruses in the images uploaded or something like that, but it was way too strict and so a lot of avatars get rejected for no reason because of the image header, and they won't change it back.

Or something like that. I'm too lazy to just use the search button and find the exact post that links to the SMF thread.

"rsz_blavresizetest.png" is the name of the file. Would renaming it help orrr

just try saving it as a bunch of different filetypes and uploading it until it sticks

Well that's the thing, I want it as a clear background, so PNG and GIF are the only options I have. I'll convert it tomorrow in school via photoshop, but I doubt that'll fix it.

or .bmp or .tiff

This one I have now is 72x68 or something and should be a png.  I tried changing it over a week ago and it wasn't working.  About two days later, I look over and I have it.  So long as the avatar is within the 75x75px size and as tiny as possible (<5kb), it should work.  It might take a couple days for it to appear though, even after clearing your cache.

the size of the file itself doesn't matter
