virtualization requires specific kernel modules that I doubt most providers compile into their kernels.
Well that sucks. The Linux provider was offering 8 GB RAM, 6 CPU cores, 120 GB disk and 2 IP addresses for just $40/month! That is a great deal, but I now I cannot use it.
I could just get a Windows VPS, but Server mania, Contabo, and Hosting above each do not have enough single-core CPU power for a paid hosting service.
So my only options are to either continue home-hosting, or get a remote dedicated server.
