As of recently i'm going to be working with some of my friends, to create a new mmorpgish type game.

As of now some basic ideas are:
  • A Sort of, Timeline aspect game, you start out as one race, and have to slowly advance your technology so on so fourth.
  • An expansive amount of weapons/tools/items/races/etc
  • A decent system, including Farming,breeding,Mining,hunger,thirst,etc
  • Will possibly include a system for land ownership, house building, castle/city building (only in non claimed lands, which will be expansive)
  • User Created content support(?)

What we have so far is zip, just had the idea last night with my friends, want to see what other people think.

my idea is to use the Unreal Engine 4 to accomplish all of this, (looking at Tara online which uses unreal engine (3?) and is pretty decent)

But yeah guys, Ideas, maybe some support, constructive criticism on our ideas, etc.

So far we have 6 people in on this, one of which can make the music, and has a excellent singing voice, we have a designer, i myself will be designing most of the items/clothing/weapons you name it.
we do need more coders, modelers of the like.

So far we want to make this game fit the needs of all parties, and won't turn down ideas from anyone, unless it's a ridiculous request.

So please, fire away.

I think that Unity would be best to use. Also why don't you make a simple platformer?

Well the idea was brewed between 6 MMO players, so it's only natural we'd want to create our own, we're just getting bored of all the same things over and over, and honestly it would be fun to make our own.

Main reason why i was leaning towards unreal engine 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puRT8nVOP7k

Ultimate3D is pretty good too. Not sure if it will fit your needs but I really like it.

What are you using for programming? C++? Either way, would you take a game designer (mechanics, levels, etc)? I see that you have somebody down as designer, but I would like to ask anyway.

inb4 minecraft clone

No nonono, none of those Poll choices,

FROSTBITE!

EA uses it, they made-

Need For Speed Underground to Rivals

BattleField or something

And more.

Unreal Engine 4 would be awesome. You can basically use it to make all types of games if you wanted to.
I also play Smite, XCOM: Enemy Within  and Dishonored II and all those games graphics look amazing.

Yeah sure, we could always use more, and yes Unreal Engine does infact use C++

Should I contact you through PM's, Skype, Steam
..which would be preferred?

Currently trying to figure out a name for the game... lots of funny names have been brought to the table.

Why don't you guys just use Torque 3D (or 2D)? It uses Torquescript, which you all probably know best.

we were leaning more towards unreal, but the monthly cost for UE4 per person is a bit meh. we're considering on torque 3D
