PSA: Avoid Garry's Mod

Garry's Mod is being messed with by a hacker who's manipulating Lua code to send a virus that changes people's names and make them spam "VINH'LL FIX IT" or "FIX IT VINH."

The virus is being transmitted through infected servers that contain !!! or # in the name. Avoid these servers in particular, and if an individual with a name akin to the phrases above joins your server, leave immediately. The virus is most likely harmless, but manipulation to the code (a prominent add-on developer was implicated in the code a few hours after the virus' spread) may lead to a change in potency.

I would avoid Gmod entirely until the issue is resolved.

EDIT: The issue has been resolved. Gmod's been updated, and the exploit has been fixed, but it is recommended that you uninstall and reinstall the game entirely before playing online.

It's just happening to people who played the game and not those who haven't at all and/or got messaged "cough", right?

also, i believe it's able to get into saved payment info or your steam wallet or something beyond those lines, not that sure

pretty loving sure valve wouldn't have any of that stuff tho so it probably wouldn't be so easy to get saved payment info, since being able to get into it through Gmod/messaging would lead to like 98.9% of steam's users getting compromised

but to summarize it all, just don't go onto gmod until some announcement is made.

Yeah, 4 or 5 people just got banned from the server I was playing on because they were spamming "*cough*", which is apparently the exact same thing as this.
And then I was later spammed with it from some random through Steam chat.

Though none of these people had their name changed to anything weird like this.
