I can guarantee you that none of those four sources are colleges using affirmative action.

gj ignoring the rest of what I said, lol. no, colleges with affirmative action policies aren't biased. I also didn't say the dictionaries were biased, they simply have no experience with it in the first place

Race might be a social construct but that doesn't mean statistics aren't true.

Of course colleges are biased. If they use this method, they want to sound as good as possible so they don't spoil their reputation. If they go around saying that they discriminate, that would harm them, so they say it's "equal." Dictionaries aren't subject to this because they're not accepting people for anything; they've got no reason to modify their definition. Dictionaries sure as hell know what they're talking about or they wouldn't be the most respectable sources for this kind of thing.

>legitimate feminists

i think you'd find most people are "feminists" in that they desire cultural, social, and economic equality for women. feminism is a legitimate movement, regardless of what you might think of the radical minority.

like I said. show me some company or school with affirmative action policies that says they prefer minorities, and I'll take what you're saying with at least half a grain of salt

Does it really matter why something is true, as long as it is?
I understand all the social causes and that race is a social construct and I'm taking sociology courses at Uni, but that doesn't invalidate the stats.

I can guarantee you that none of those four sources are colleges using affirmative action. as soon as you show me an institution that actually uses affirmative action that says those things, then I'll consider what you're saying

what he's trying to say is that the article is twisting the truth so that it can persuade you that affirmative action is OK

See?

Regardless, dictionaries aren't credible sources. I don't know where you got that from.

neither is wikipedia but it's acceptable in this situation

this is hilarious what feminism are you talking about because clearly it's not the ones in first world countries. by the way, those "radical minorities" are the ones influencing the real world.

please don't get me started on this i got so much more

those statistics don't validate treating them differently, which is exactly what that girl wants

I'm just wondering if you do browse Stormfront. I really have nothing against them.

...
they won't.

Because it spoils their reputation. No company/school is going to say that affirmative action is a form of discrimination because that makes them sound bad. Let me use a different comparison:

Say you want to know the definition of robbery.

So I get a dictionary, and I tell you the definition of robbery:
"The crime of taking property illegally from other people."

So then you say that this is not a valid source because they don't know what they're talking about!

I ask you what a valid source is.

A robber, duh!

So we go find a robber and ask him what robbery is.
"An action where you steathfully borrow things permanently in order to distribute wealth."

This is loving ridiculous. Obviously, that is a terrible definition of robbery - it vaguely describes it, but not at face value. It's a robber's attempt at making himself look good. Colleges do the same thing - they bend the definition for better reputation.
