I've been trying to play my old NES, but when I hit the power button, it just turns on and off and on and off....
Any of you guys know how I can get it to work?

Take it to nintendo. They repaired my N64 for $60 USD.

I really doubt nintendo has any support for the NES. I also don't want to spend any money.

Nintendo has every system on display in Nintendo World NY and I asked in person if they would repair obsolete systems. They said they would if they can obtain the needed parts.

Ok, so I removed the 72 pin connector and cleaned it, now i can't get that little stuff back on

Well, I got it back on and it still doesn't work :panda:

Afaik it means it had an error reading the cartridge. Happens to mine all the time. Give the cartridge the ol' seductive blow and it usually works.

However if the NES connector is too corroded, it needs to be repaired or replaced.

Sometimes rubbing a Q-tip lightly with alcohol and then spreading it around the inner part of the cartridge helped me

idk i though i think that has some bad effects though

its okay to use alcohol as long as it has a high alcohol concentration

This. Anything at 70% or higher should do the trick.

Move the game cartridge around a *LITTLE* bit while it's blinking until you start to see the game on the screen, then press the reset button, should work 99% of the time if done right.

Remove the 10NES chip from the console. It was designed to keep out pirated games. Sometimes actual games don't make a full contact with the 10NES chip, making it reset like that.

Obviously you're having a run in with the Glitch-Gremlin.
