Author Topic: New Idea for a game that I will never be able to create. (EVER)  (Read 3212 times)

I was eating lunch (Sammiches) and playing some Underhell and Murder (Garry's Mod) and it hit me. A NEW GAME IDEA!

So I told my friend about the idea, of a survival horror game where You must survive 7 days with a killer breaking into your house every night during the 7 days. It starts with you. A man in a house working alone. Almost never talks to neighbors, nor contacts friends. Before seeing a news report of a Serial Killer on the whereabouts of your local area. (Your house looks like it lives somewhere in Louisiana? IDK) What you don't know is... the killer... knows you.
Details:
  • Day 1 & 2: Game starts with Basic tutorials and killer comes into your house at nighttime. Does not make contact with you. Only leaves messages on Walls trying to mess with you. The next morning, you contact police and wants you to contact them if something else happens. (Unlocks the ability to use your phone, and requires a 10 minute wait for them to arrive. (Cell Phone which you can buy. Which I will explain later.)
  • Day 3: Allows using the money you get (From surviving the night.) to purchase items. These can range from Security Cameras, House Alarms, Lights, and Weapons<== Not unlocked until Day 5
  • Day 4: First time contact with Killer. (Wears a Plastic Clown Mask (I keep thinking of Dallas' Mask from Payday 2 but thats just uncreative)
  • Day 5 & 6: Killer gets more aggressive and now shuts off the power in your house. Now lets you buy Weapons. (Melee Weapons, Ranged Weapons, and Traps. Extremely Expensive.) And now requires you to be strategic with how you will survive the night. Also back to weapons, you can end the game early if you kill the killer before Day 7.
  • Day 7: Killer is VERY aggressive. No longer lets you sleep, or turn on the power. (As he now has a Homemade EMP. Damn.) Cops now require 15 minutes to arrive. Nearly impossible to kill with Melee Weapons, and can lock doors. (Meaning trying to get into some important rooms can be unlocked unless you find the keys. (Half of the time, the killer will hold the keys. Making it impossible.) If the cops arrive after 15 minutes, the killer will pop out behind you and disarm you. Putting you at gunpoint before the cops aim weapons at him. Ends with him going into custody
Endings:
1. If you kill him, the ending cutscene will be you in a interrogation room being asked about the events of the game.
2. If you die in any day, game abruptly ends and puts you back in the main menu. (Yeah. No saving. It's a short game anyway. Why need it?)
3. Ending explained in Day 7 above. But then you hear that he escaped prison.
0. There will be a SUPER SECRET ENDING!!! :O Where you find out who the killer is, and both you and him resolve differences. But killer goes into custody and hangs himself in his cell for not being able to see you again. As his friend.

Others:
Sleeping: Sleeping can greatly increase the chances of dieing in your house. Recommend using during the first 3 days.
Hiding: Hide under beds, closets, and under bed covers etc. staying too long in your hiding spot can get you spotted. (No. It's not like Outlast where the enemy checks everywhere but where your actually hiding. *COUGH* THAT LAST LOCKER *COUGH*)
House Interactions: (Only works in the daytime) Check voice mail on your phone, watch tv, get the mail, board up your house etc. Do some recreational things before the killer comes at night.

What might be some FAQ once this is posted:
CAN YOU JUMP?: No.
What Engine do you think this would be on if it was a real project?: Definitely not the Source Engine. There would be some real controversy if it were on Source. I would assume Unreal Engine? Probably.
Can you escape the house?: Go play Slender: The Arrival if you really want to escape from a house. -_-'
Would this have Screamers, Jumpscares and other cheap scares?: No. Ending 3, and maybe if he spots you in a hiding spot, you could get a close look at his smexy face. :3
How big is the house?: About the size of a small sized mansion. (Take ze_lastmansion for comparson.)
Is this game gonna be hard?: Depends on the day you are on and the strategies you use to survive.

Thats all I have for today. Also what am I gonna call this idea? I guess "Bump in the Night" will have to do for now. Thank you for reading this. P.S. This took so long to create ideas. Bye!

Another horror survival game.

Another horror survival game.
"Guess what! My wife and I finally have a son! His name is Theo and I just can't wait to spend time with him when I get home from work!"
"Another human."

someone should make a live horror game

the entire time everything is well lit, you're well fed, and you had a pleasant time. but there's monsters

I had an idea for a Minecraft mod a long time ago when I played it, It was themed of that you could use almost every block in the game to smash against a mobs head. Each block had it's own abilities (Cactus left a bleed effect, TNT blew up on impact, dirt is weak, ETC) and you could charge up your attacks like a Bow.

Too bad I could never make this.

Definitely could be done in unity; If you get someone to do models and someone else to do sound, I could potentially code it if it actually becomes a thing.

Could be quite an interesting game.

Don't dis halo, its had its run and only now is it beginning to suck.

Unity sounds better! UE3 is too... well UE3 is made for much bigger games. But Unity is poor in texture quality from what I can see from other Unity Games.

Use TGE for this.
Definately can be made in C++ using Ultimate3D and OpenGL.
