Author Topic: Anyone recently taken the SATs?  (Read 1800 times)

Im taking the SATs in about a month and I want to do really well so it ups my chance of getting into the college I'd like to go to. Im just wonder what are the best ways to study for the Writing and Reading sections.

Also, what are the general categories of questions on the Math sections?(Like graphing? factoring? or is it just very general stuff?) Im trying to quickly restudy everything from algebra to pre-calc.

I took pre act a few days ago, does that count?

no because im not talking the act

I took the SAT and ACT not too long ago and to say the least, they cover everything from PA to basic Trig.

The reading sections are fairly easy and the best way to do good on those, is to read the questions first, and then read the section. On the writing portion, take your time. You are given a few hours to do this test for a reason, don't waste any of that time by "finishing early".

I got a 31 on the ACT and a 2100 on the SAT, which are both extremely above average.

I took a PSAT and was apparently really good at it.  I made a thread about colleges spamming me and they still do to this very minute.  I'm taking the ACT on June 14.

I took the SAT early last year because Duke University invited me to try it (7th grader taking SAT among sophmores and juniors lol). Reading and writing are easy if you have a large vocabulary and read regularly. They won't give you much trouble as long as you read the questions carefully.

Math is pretty standard, covering everything up to Algebra II and some Pre-Calculus. The essay portion (if there is one) is what you need to worry about, due to the amount of background detail it requires and the very specific prompts it requires. I can't really give any advice other than make stuff up if you don't have anything to talk about, just make it believable.

It wasn't too bad. I got around an 1860, which isn't too bad considering I hadn't even taken anything more than Algebra I yet.

I took the practice SHSAT and did better than 65% of everyone in New York.

Goml.

SAT is a stuffty test, it's designed poorly. It's going to be rewritten soon
I got something close to a 2000 on it but I got a 34 on the act (out of 36)

I already have taken the PSATs and I got something like 1950
73 on Math I believe so Im happy with that but I really want to get my reading and writing in the high 60s

What is ACT like?

The psat is easier, I got like a 2250 on it

I badly failed the PSAT when I took it. I'm not too optimistic about my chances of passing the SAT or ACT because i'm bad at higher maths...

Higher maths? wtf? the regular SAT reasoning test is only algebra II. You don't do precalc unless you take the SAT II Math

I'm going to take the A-Level and the CAE in december. Should I be worried about this SAT?

Ok so I dont really need to study and pre-calc stuff.

In the ACT, I'm just going to circle whatever is my lucky letter for the calculus questions lol
