It's almost not worth it though just for the huge pain that it is to go back into the underground pass in order to recharge the staff. It only has 200 charges if I recall correctly.

You can upgrade it for 200k and then it holds 2500 charges (or 1250 charges against other players)
It's really, really good and it's super cheap to cost. 260gp per cast with a max hit of 25 (27 with an occult necklace!), compared to the god spells that average about at 662gp per cast and have a max hit of 20 (30 with charge, which requires 80 magic while iban staff/blast only requires 50 magic.)
to cast ibans blast, you need to have the staff of iban equipped which gives +10 magic attack bonus, while the god staves (which you need to have equipped for god spells) only give +6 magic attack bonus.
so yeah, a really good spell and a really good staff.

Well I mean, sure, if you really want it.

Iban Blast
Max hit - 25
Cost per cast - 260gp
Requirement - 50 Magic

Now, let's compare it to an ancients spell of the same level.

Smoke Rush
Max hit - 14
Cost per cast - 678gp
Requirement - 50 Magic
Bonus - Poisons for 2 damage.

You can clearly see that iban blast is superior, but let's keep going.
The max hit doesn't catch up until Blood Blitz, a level 80 spell.

Blood Blitz
Max hit - 25
Cost per cast - 1,720gp
Requirement - 80 Magic
Bonus - Heals the caster for 25% of damage dealt (Max: 7)

Blood burst is superior to ibans blast, but only because it heals. In every other way it falls short of ibans blast. 1,720gp for a level 80 spell that has the max hit of a level 50 spell that costs 260.

So uh, yeah, that's it. If you're willing to do underground pass (which you should be, if you're going for max or at least "good" stats. Fairly sure you need it for some achievement diaries, too.) then go for iban blast.

That too, yeah.
It's not even that hard of a quest, really. Just have decent agility and you'll be fine.
I did the large section near the end in about 30-40 minutes with 54 agility, while only half paying attention to the game.

UPDATE: Right now i'm maging all my slayer tasks (where it's efficient, of course.) trying to get 75 magic for a trident. Even though a trident has a lower max hit than an iban staff (until 93) it's still nice to have a sort of "portable" magic method, where i don't have to carry around runes (which means i can do lava drags, maybe.)

I really need to get around to doing Underground Pass, it's one of the few quests that I've really held back on doing. I have all of the requirements, but my agility will probably hold me back.

For combat, it's either Vengeance or Ice Barrage.  Otherwise the best spell is Spellbook Swap.

Yeah, Ice Barrage is obviously the best, most damaging combat spell. That or trident when you're potted up.
But what I'm trying to figure out is the best, most cost effective and most damaging spell for my current level.
