honestly if i see another sentient creature then i can safely say that my religious ideals would mean nothing to me anymore at that point. :u

um im pretty sure every planet is different???
Yes, but there are a lot of planets SIMILAR to Earth. The only thing that really makes Earth capable of supporting life is:
1. A temperature between 0C and 100C at a good portion of the planet (not particularly rare)
2. Geological activity (very, very common)
3. Storms or comets that can introduce amino acids (both of which are pretty common, but this is arguably the most limiting factor)

Out of the 1022 stars in the observable universe (pessimistic number, there) and one planet per star (VERY pessimistic), that's still a few septillion planets. Even if those factors apply to 0.001% of all planets (again, pessimistic), we've still got pentillions of planets with potential life. A pentillion is a loving huge amount of planets and the chance of there not being a single intelligent organism there is almost nil.

who says other aliens need amino acids

we're limited to our own knowledge, but that may not apply anywhere else

this too, I forgot to mention that

Aliens can have any sort of biology that we don't know about. In that case, the number of alien life-forms skyrockets.

ok everyone's under the impression that all life needs the same things we do

In the post literally just above you I explained this too. The chance of there being extra-terrestrial life somewhere in the Universe is so close to 100% there's pretty much no point arguing it.

I agree wholeheartedly that there is some sort of intelligent life on some distant planet.

there should just be a "yes" option

its more likely life started here (or there) then 2 seperate chains of evolution from the basics.

You skipped 5 posts explaining WHY I'm right and went straight to the fact that I am. If you're going to ignore what I'm saying, why are you even bothering? I've yet to see a valid reason from you why there isn't other than the fact that big screens around the Solar System are unrealistic (which they totally are.)

what is this thread turning into anymore
-tristan suggests solar system is a screen(?)
-disproves his own theory
what am i just reading this wrong

you're insane

hmmmmmmmm
I think basic life probably exists somewhere
intelligent life?? same thing. in our galaxy? probably not right now, but in the past or the future? sure
