SummaryConspiracy theories are theories about popular or important events, global scale events, or linking many conspiracy theories. Put simply, if you have ever
conspired that your teacher was giving you a bad grade on purpose, you've made a conspiracy theory, but on a much smaller scale.
[1]
About/HistoryThe origin of the word can be traced back to the Oxford English Dictionary in 1909, which is when it was first an "official word".
[1], and can go far back as Texas newspapers in 1855
[2]. However, the conspiracy theory is most common now a days about the government and most theorize about the government's secretive side, considering that we truly do not know that much about our government. But why do we make conspiracies? I
theorize that it's because human nature is to know about all that goes on, and sometimes information is displaced, lost in the void, or a number of people are just insane.
Famous ConspiraciesSome of the most famous conspiracy theories include those like the JFK assassination, 9/11 being an inside job, reptiles running the government, the fakeness of the Holocaust, and the overall screwing up of the world via the New World Order and chemtrails.
[3]. You can view a full list of the most popular conspiracy theories
here.
True Ones, the Results of Conspiracies, and How They're PercievedConspiracy theories sometimes turn out to be true. This is a very rare occasion, but several actually have. Including the toxicity of Asbestos, the Manhattan Project, and Area 51 ( a more recent one ), and also MK Ultra II, the government has sometimes done some stuff behind the back of its citizens.
[4]Conspiracy theories don't turn out so well sometimes, though. The result of conspiracy theories is still disputed, but some believe that believers of conspiracy theories, like aliens and the belief in the Men in Black, have actually been snuffed out by the government. Also, some conspiracy theories lead men to commit evil crimes, like the Oklahoma City bombing.
[5].
And while conspiracy theories are sometimes regarded to be true, like in this thread, the idea of the general public is that conspiracy theories are nut job ideas created by idiots who live in trailer parks. Sure, this may be true for many, but it's truly not and you shouldn't believe what they say. Some really intelligent people have worked on or believed in the research of conspiracies.
