Author Topic: My internet is stuff.  (Read 994 times)

So basically whenever I happen to play any game my upload (I think it is upload) speeds drop down to 3 or 2 mb/s.

Should I ask my Dad to yell at Comcast? We already got a new router and it didn't do anything (obviously).

Mine is worse, no doubt.

Speedtest?

I have 2mbps download and 0.7mbps upload. What's your excuse?

Routers won't speed up your internet. Your service and modem depends on your internet speed. Your router just transmits the wireless signal. Plug your PC into the modem or one of the router's ethernet ports.

quit making everything about you

whats your up/down?
what kind of modem do you have?
what kind of router?

My bandwidth is .5 MB get on my level

The upload, when playing Blockland or BF4 on my PS4, was at no doubt 2 mb/s. It gets loving tiresome to no point when I cannot even play my games anymore.

To Frankie:
Comcast gave us one of those modems that has the router built into it. It is a Technicolor 8305C

what about your modem and router
how many devices are connected to said router

My brother can be playing sometimes (he reports no lag on his laptop at all, do not believe him), my sister can be on her iPod most of the time, my Dad or myself on the "home" computer (my Dad does Facebook games and I do Blockland stuff). When I am not on the computer/my Dad is on it I will be playing my PS4.

So like 4-6 devices.

-snip-
thats loving fast
my old internet download speed was 20kbs

can you take a picture of the modem and router
how many TVs do you have, could you tell me how many times the cable coming into your house is split before reaching the modem?

Verizon is recently failing at my home internet. Starting from 2.5 weeks ago, I start getting random short outages throughout the day, especially the afternoon. 1 week after that, I get a huge-ass network outage which is 48 hours long. Verizon confirmed that all these problems are their fault. Then finally, the 2-day outage was over, and there were no more afterwards. Whew!

But then my ping got horrible. Hetzner.de used to have a 120-ms. response time, and now it is 200 ms. CBMhost used to have a 60-ms. response time, and now it is 130 ms. Additionally, packet loss is quite high, considering I run a hosting service on the connection.
It's freaking business Internet! It's FiOS (which uses fiber-optic cables all the way to the house); why is my ping extremely high?

Verizon used to be extremely reliable and fast for 2 years, but now they have decided to take a dump on the internet service. All of a sudden.

I have speeds so bad it's basically impossible to play any game. Like, 2000ms sometimes.

There is a large possibility that the cable is split around 1-2 times until getting to the modem. I cannot take a picture right now.

We have about 7 TV's in our house, 5 with cable boxes and 2 with this "free" box stuff that we got that only has like 7 channels, and we only use like 2 or 3 :P.

This is being connected directly to the modem. I expected better, Comcast...
Yeah, the internet in my upstairs area practically died (the connection speed went to the point of being .1 mbps), so I'm practically the only one with internet and my dad says it's "fixed".

We all know most of the time it's the ISP at fault here. It seems that it's a marketing stunt used to pull even more money out of our pockets.
